Default Rearview mirror replacement steps

I have a 2004 c70. The rearview mirror is broken (as in the ball-mount and socket totally messed up, so it's pretty much hanging).
I have the replacement mirror, part # 8614006.
What I don't have is the slightest idea of how to take the old one off. There's a housing above the mirror post, and there's a ridge outlining it, but it seems as though there's no way to pop that off.
It's looking like I'd have to take off the the plastic that runs all along the top of the windshield to do this.
Is that really what needs to happen to replace this mirror?

Thanks in advance for any advice, or commiseration.

Hmmm.
OK, IF I figure out how to do it, I'll at least post a description of the process.

OK, in case anyone has the same issue, it turns out that on the 2004 c70, you can get access to the screws securing the rearview mirror by removing the four big machine screws that hold the sun visors on. The entire top panel can then drop down a bit, and you can get enough space to disconnect the electrical connectors to the mirror (there are two), and then unscrew the two T-25s holding it on.
