Lightbulb sc 901 rear speakers for a 2001 c70 convertible

My rear driver side speaker is blown. I have the sc 901 prologic system, i believe from dynaudio. Does anyone know where to get a replacement speaker or how to remove the old one? I tried taking off the screen but i heard a crack and i stopped. Best Buy says they are 6x9 but i know they are not. they look like 9" speakers or something with a tweeter. I need help, with this fixed my audio system will be back together again, sounding amazing!

I am looking for the same solution. I think the whole panel must be removed.

I see there is a bolt by where the door closes to remove the whole panel, but that seems like a scary move for an unprofessional like me. i've replaced speakers before, but never in a volvo. I called my local volvo dealership and they said the speaker is around $150 for just that speaker alone. Now as for instilation, thats a whole other story, i really don't want the dealership to install it. that will be costly on its own.

ok, cool. so when you pop out the seat. you can see the bolts to remove the panel. are you just pulling up on the seat portion or the back portion? Is it just one piece? Thanks so much for posting the pics! thats a huge help!

Phew finished.

1. You have to pull up on the bottom seat to remove it.
2. To remove the back there are two bolts at each corner that must be removed.
3. Remove the head rest.
4. Now the back can be lifted up and removed.
5. Now you can remove the whole panel but be careful because if its a convert you have to unlatch the pop up cover before the panel can be removed.

All this for a speaker??? What were they thinking?

Good luck

I went with Polk Audio DB 651 6 1/2" inch speakers from Fry's in L.A. They were only $59 for a pair and sound better than the factory.

Check them out

Polk audio huh? i've heard good things about them. I was thinking infinity's buy if polk audio was an easy fit and replacement, i might just go with that. Im starting my project this week. im also glad they come as a pair because i might as well switch the other side while im at it.

I was going to go with Infinity but they sound guy at Fry's insisted on Polk. It was not a easy fit. It comes with a bracket but I couldn’t find the proper matching. It may be because I was rushing to beat the sun. Light drilling may be needed. I am going to go back in there to finish it up and to add a sub. I need a tad bit more bang. Just a tad.

Cool, i found a set of polk's on amazon im going to pick up. Besides the drilling, is the electrical connection an easy fit? Im waiting for the mail now. Once again, you have no idea how helpfull it is to talk to someone who is working with the same car. Seems like my car is rare up here. I haven't seen another one like it.

Cool can't wait to hear what you think. You will need to splice the wires to disconnect from the factory speakers. Then you can get some cheap speaker fittings from Wal-Mart or Radio Shack. I had a couple on hand but for the other speaker I just threaded the wire through the positive and negative on the new speaker and covered with electrical tape. I can only imagine how rare your car is up there. That must be real NICE!!! I never use to see my car but the past few days I see it everywhere.

Are you using the factory 3 disc changer ? I have tried three different ones and they all give me "3-disc error" and they won't eject. The whole head comes out of the unit and you can't pull the cartridge out of it.Could all three be bad ?

Mine is doing exactly the same thing. I suggest you take it to an electronic repair technician and he will open it and fix it for you. Don't try to mess with it

Mine was not reading the disc at all. I cleaned mine and it worked fine after. Might be worth a try.
