Default Subwoofer addition

I would like to add the factory subwoofer kit to my 2001 C70 LPT Cabriolet.

I was informed by local dealer that the kits are no longer available.

I understand that the amplifier is an Alpine and the subwoofers were made by Dynaudio. If any one has the model numbers for these parts I would appreciate it. I guess I also need the rear seat shut off switch so the back seat passangers don't get a low frequency back massage.

I have a 1999 C70 coupe and I recently installed a Kenwood 1000 amp and a single 12" subwoofer. your better of checking out different brands if you want to get good bass from your car. I recomend that you do not get any kits from the dealer bcause they are very expensive and give a very bad sound. I installed the whole system in about 4 hours. And it sounds great...

DJRUZERS6 did you add the your single sub in behind the rear seats? but you only did one? Did you add a shutoff switch like the factory used?

Dynaudio speakers are the Rolls Royce of speakers! Do not be fooled that they are not. Your Volvo dealer has brochures on Dynaudio and you might want to go to Dynaudio's web site. It is nigh impossible to 'blow' one of their speakers unless you are a teeny bopper who is going for noise. The entire system (Dolby surround sound) is available used and perhaps you could find one on Ebay if not your local Eupopean salvage yard.

I have checking out Ebay, Euro Salvage and Dynaudio. What I really need is the DynAudio model numbers. The DynAudio website just lists there components without any application info. Same for the Alpine Subwoofer amplifier and crossover if any.

My C70 already came with the Dynaudio subwoofer system but the owner that had the vehicle before me said that he had to replace the system 3 times because it was either blowing the speaker or blowing the amp. So I removed the system and I placed my own. my kenwood amp has an input wire for ON and Off, whatI did was that I used the positive wire that goes to my car antena and I used it as myOn and Off. So every time that I turn on my radio, the amp turns on and the subwoofer is powered. I have the subwoofer dirrectly behind the right rear passenger seat, and my Kenwood amp aloows for 2 Subs, so I will be adding another one shortly.

The owner had them removed before I bought it, but as you know you need a positive wire to be run from the battery to the end of the car...i ran the cable threw the seat part or the sitting cushion..to remove that you need to pull up from the bottom of the seat on both sides and the seat comes off...you also need to remove part of the trunk carpet the goes near the back of the seat, so that you are able to pass the positive cable of the amp to the back (Nicely)... i placed the amp in front of the subwoofer and i placed the sub speaker on the far left back side of the trunk

My old c70 was purchased new in 01 and never have I had a problem with the radio. The Dolby Pro Logic Surround Sound is the best on the market...........bar none!! I have had the Bose in Audis, the Bose in Millenias, and the up scale in BMW and none of them hold a candle to the Volvo Pro Logic. That is one of the reasons that I have kept this auto. I Have 5 autos and this is the oldest...................and most prone to break downs.........but I simply love the styling and the interior (to include the radio).

Default DynAudio Subwoofer addition

I am going to have to do a little more research as my C70 is the rag top version. I would like to find the DynAudio speakers that fit in the rear seat backs. Does any one have the DynAudio part numbers for these?

I know this posting does not help or answer your issue but I just had the opportunity to hear the Mark Levinson stereo in a new Lexus 460 and it is without doubt the most exotic system I have ever heard!! I does put the Volvo surround sound to shame...............truly if the Mark Levinson is a 10......then the Volvo is a 6. It's that good! But continue with you subs

It is incredible! You saw my earlier postings..........I have and have had quite a few high end european autos and up til now, I truly thought the Volvo system was the best by far. Looks like I'm going to have to get a Lexus now. Actually we have two Japanese vehicles.....one with the Bose system and the little MX-5 with just a 4 speaker basic radio.

Default C70 Convertible Amplifier

Hi,

I've lost all bass from my sc-901 system, seems tobe the bottomw 2 door speakers stopped working.

I'm trying to find the amplifier to check the fuses but I can;t find it anywhere.

Can anyone tell me where the original amplifier is fitted on a 2001 C70 Cab?

Thanks,

mark

I agree the ML system sounds great, but it is far more the equipment and tuning. The speakers if seen outside the vehicle are pretty uninspiring.

Well I have a 98 C70 Coupe and it has the Alpine 400-watt amp. Not sure if it's the same for Conv.
This is the part number : 3533798

Here it is on eBay.
