Default Transmission shifting funny

I took the Wife's 04 LPT vert in yesterday to a shop that advertises on this sight. We first took it to the dealer and they said I had to wait for something to come up on the dash (something like improper shift ratio or something) before they could get it done through warranty. Well the Wife told me that she was trying to merge on the freeway and she nailed it and nothing happend until she hit 5,000 rpm and then it just took off. It's been shifting odd for a while but nothing like this. I think it's a safety issue now. I'll let you know what this new shop says about it.

I got a call from the mechanic yesterday, seems like an honest guy, said he could duplicate the problem. It was messing up in between 2nd and 3rd gears. He said the dealer should have known this as it is a fairly common problem. Anyway, he contacted the warranty company and they are going to pay for it. Something about a piston in the tranny. (I didn't know there was such a thing) Should be getting it back today or tomorrow. Will let you know the final result.

Shop called me said they replaced the part he thought was messed up, said the 2/3 shift was good now but something else is wrong with it still. Sounding like I might need a whole new tranny. SWEET. As long as it's under warranty I love it. Dude has been nothing but cool so far. Rempt Motors in Auburn Wa.

I got a call last friday, they finally got the tranny back from the shop and were getting ready to put it back in the car. So they called me yesterday and said that the tranny was in but something is not right with it, still not shifting right. It's been about 2 1/2 weeks now and the wife is not so happy about the whole situation. Hoping to hear some good news soon but now they have to take it back out and I'm guessing send it back to the transmission shop that rebiult it. I'll be glad when this is over.

How was it shifting funny as in what was it doing?

Did they drive it enough for the TCU to relearn the new tranny?

The mechanic didn't elaborate about the shifting, he just said something is still wrong. I don't know about the TCU but I would assume that they know about that. They specialize in Volvo's but I guess it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Well I'm supposed to get the car back tomorrow, it's been a month now. You can't even imagine what the wife is like right now. Anyway, after they sent the tranny back to the tranny shop they had to replace the valve body and something wrong with a planetary gear. Was supposed to be done today but they want to make sure the TCU is all dialed in. All the wife keeps saying is "how would you like if if you didn't have your Jeep for a month" man will I be glad to stop hearing that. I even put the top and doors on it and let her drive it when it got really hot because our Focus has no air. Anyway, fingers crossed for tomorrow.

My wife is going to explode. Just got a call from the mechanic shop, trans will not shift correctly between 1st and 2nd. It's going to have to be pulled again. I'm afraid to tell her. Been over a month now. Warranty only gives $100 bucks toward a loaner car, shop offered another $100. Still wouldn't even be close to covering how long we have been with out her car. Very frustrating.

It will take some miles to calibrate it.

They need to put the module into the calibrate mode and drive it.

Holy crap, sounds like you might have bigger problems than a C70 transmission issue.

Ok, finally got the car back on Monday. I guess the rebuild shop wanted the whole car at there shop. They ended up putting it on a flat bed and taking it to Volvo to have it reprogrammed. What a pain it has been but it drives nice now and the wife is happy that she can put the top down while we still have good weather. I don't balme the shop I took it to, I blame the warranty company for not paying to get it done right the first time. The guy at the shop was pretty cool, he gave us a coupon for $150 off our next visit. So until the next dilema, Happy Motoring!
