Default Two problems

I have the urgent airbag warning on the dash. Car parked all winter and I want to drive it, it starts and runs fine but the top will not go down, are these two issues related. Will the top not go down as long as the airbag light is on.
Car worked perfectly when parked last November.

did you check fuses? curious if you parked where mice can get into the car and gnawed on a wire... see if you can get a code reader capable of reading SRS and chassis codes (Autozone etc often "rent " or loan )

Thanks for the reply, yes I did check the fuses and all seem fine. When the car is running and I push the switch to the top up position, I hear a "ding", so I am assuming the switch is getting power.
I did park the car outside for a week or so to do some woodworking in my garage and then back in again. I guess it is possible a mouse could have chewed something in that time
A visual inspection under the good did not show any signs. Is there a place possible under the engine or beside I should look at.
I will try and locate a code reader and see if I can turn the light off. Does the airbag warning have anything to do with the top going down. Wondering if it ais a Volvo safety feature.

not sure about why an airbag fault code would be reason to keep the top up... I'd start on the theory there's a common electrical failure point and see where the fault codes lead you.
