Used engine install/ issues starting.
Hey all. Need some help.
I just finished installing a used engine (supposedly 60k on it). Has new timing belt kit, new water pump, removed oil pan( damaged during engine shipment) and reinstalled pan off my original engine. New o rings in oil pick up, oil cooler etc. 1) I have tried to crank engine with coil packs removed in order to get oil pressure built up before starting. Have cranked for awhile off and on but the oil pressure warning light never went off. I looked in the oil filler cap and it appears that there is oil visible on the cam/lobe. So I think it is getting oil to the top end. I am in the process of replacing the oil pressure sender to rule that out.
2) I never could get it to pop off and try to fire(with the coil packs connected of course) I have two part question :a) I have the air box still removed so that it is easier to check trans fluid( and add more if needed). Could the fact that the mass air flow sensor is not plugged in cause a no start? b) should this car fire and start with everything connected or do they require any computer “rebooting” etc from a dealer?
Thanks
Mike
