Wrong CV Axle lengths

Has anyone had trouble getting correct aftermarket CV axles? I need to replace a worn Volvo Axle OE# 8251525 and when I try and measure it, the compressed length is about 22" end to end. I bought a Trakmotive VO-8017 axle and that was only 20" long with different style joints. Next I tried a ToughOne Axle (Advance Auto Parts) NCV73518 this is much closer at 21.2" with joints that are like the OE ones. I am tempted to install this one but I might try another brand, unfortunately most do not list their lengths. I tried using the showmetheparts.com website but most of those listed are closer to 21".

From my experience with CV axles, they never operate in their extreme extended or compressed positions. There is enough flex for movement of the suspension. Very similar to a driveshaft on a RWD car that DOES NOT have a fixed differential carrier, there is flex in the yoke but you should never hit the extremes.

Thanks tony1963. I pulled the OE inner joint apart to find that the needle bearings were falling out and one of the rollers? had cracked in half. The debris was stopping the original one from compressing all the way. I put the ToughOne axle (made by GSP) in and drove it around. no problems and no more shuttering when I accelerate.
