Apple Car Play was updated yesterday in my 2022 Volvo CX60. Less than a half hour installation. Used it today and a bit disappointed. You can not use heads up at all with the Car Play. Hopefully a new update will fix this. It is very sensitive and every time I went over a bump it would disconnect making it very difficult to following driving directions!!

We used to have an after market wireless adapter for Car Play in our 2018 Audi Q5 and 2022 Genesis GV70. Tried to use it in the Volvo and it would not work. Bought another brand from Amazon
Amazon Amazon
as it said it was compatible with the car but it did not work. Does anyone know which manufacturer WILL work as do not want to deal with the lousy cord connections!!

Default Interrupted my update on accident - now I have issues!

The V2.2 update popped up on my screen when I got to work today and I ignored it, parked and got out of the car. When I got back to my car (within 20 minutes), I couldn’t unlock my car via key fob or app. So I took out the emergency key inside the fob. I had to get in urgently. Car then wouldn’t start, but I was able to putting my key fob in the cup holder. Screen and dash were blacked out and a/c wasn’t on. Seemed like the only functioning thing was the engine. Within 5 minutes or so, everything lit up and seemed like it was back to normal til I got to my stop and got out of the car — now it wouldn’t lock. FML.

Apparently, I now have to take the car in for service, as there was a “malfunction” during the update. Second time having to take my car in for service and have only had it for 2 months. First time it was at Volvo for 1 month. Total BS. So over this car.

Has this happened to anyone with this update or any others? Any at home solves? Or am I stuck having to take it back to the dealer??

You might have the car set to automatically download or install software updates, in which case you may not have access during the time (hours) it can take to download/install. I have my updates set to manual (not automatic), and I'll only update the software at the dealership, given that lots of owners have had problems downloading and installing OTA software updates themselves. I highly recommend doing as I am doing on this.

@jgjhhi OTA software update 2.2 installed today without issue. Apple CarPlay works just fine from my short test today. Yes, not having wireless CarPlay is sub-optimal. Am looking into wireless adapter. Will let you know what I settle on and hopefully it will work (fingers crossed).

Let us know if you figure out a workaround for your device or is it a lost cause?

Exclamation GOOGLE voice command prob w/ V2.2 update

It sounds complicated to do the download (will be my first time), in that the car has to be on continuously for the hours-long download (as per the owner's manual for 2022.5 XC60 ER), and then there's a 45-minute installation after the download.
I have a 2022 XC40 Recharge I installed the v2.2 update two days ago, my voice-command function "Hey GOOGLE" stopped working after the update. It still works with the steering wheel and the control center buttons. But not verbally by saying "Hey Google" or "OK Google."

Anyone else having the same problem?: USA location.

UK T6 2022 recharge - excitedly awaited v2.2 update, downloaded with no issues - same issue with voice-command Google, only via control buttons, have checked the setting, all appear okay, very frustrating 😡 hope it’s a quickly repaired glitch…

Also annoyed that it’s not wireless CarPlay 🤨

Any ideas on how we get failure reports back to Volvo HQ tech support?

I worked in the computer industry for 35 years and from my experience so far, Volvo is not set up to handle simple stuff like bug reports and user feedback. And the dealer network might be good at mechanical stuff but when it comes to fixing problems like this Goggle voice command bug they say they have no established procedure to do anything but make an appointment and bring the car in.

Volvo could use some help from people who understand how to cope with software-driven systems. The Volvo dealer network does not appear to be ready for prime time in that regard.

I did report the bug to Google through their customer feedback system. Maybe, given enough noise, it'll bubble up to somebody in Volvo Corporate who cares.

V2.2 Update & Google Assistant Voice Command problem fix -- It Works!

I just received a call from my local dealer and they gave the following fix for the Google Voice command problem that happened after completing the V2.2 upgrade. It worked on my 2022 XC40 Recharge Twin

On the center display:
1. Choose "Settings"
2. Choose "Applications:
3. Choose "Show All"
4. Choose "Google Assistant"
5. Choose "Force Stop"

Wait ten seconds, go back to the home screen and test it by saying "Hey Google"

Ask her about her affair with HAL (from the movie Space Odyssey 2001.) She refuses to discuss it with me....

Is this also available in the US? If yes, when should we see it for download?

Thanks

Any one else have this problem? Why is Apple car play not wireless? Does anyone know why? And my windshield projector doesn’t work. None of the volume buttons, channel Change.. none of it works.. and I can’t even hit ok to clear this message. I am so frustrated!

Are there any legacy automakers who are set up to receive useful owner feedback? I see this as a huge problem within the industry generally. If I was CEO of one of these companies, I'd have a whole department set up for this express purpose -- to dialogue with both owners and service departments on real issues in cars (especially software issues). And as part of this, I'd have one or two people assigned to be present full-time on all the big online owner forums to receive and answer questions publicly (and not with just a "thanks for your question... we'll discuss it at the company" kind of reply, but real, substantive replies) -- with the officials/representatives talking to all the relevant people at Volvo/Sweden to get real answers and convey those answers, in the case of our Volvos.

Check out the thread under the title : XC60Electric-only concerns in a PHEV?
It covers some of these issues with the pop-ups. Based on my experience, it is an issue when the car updates the software for many owners.
