Default Wi-Fi Connectivity? (Car TO Wi-Fi - not hotspot)

I'm trying to connect my XC40 P8 Recharge to my home Wi-Fi, since AT&T is so weak here, but it's a no go. I can connect but it doesn't stay connected.

I even put a Wi-Fi node in the garage with the car for a super strong signal, but it still doesn't stay connected.

My Volvo Cars app problems seem related to not having a decent Internet connection.

Is Wi-Fi only for service or does anyone have any luck getting it to connect to their home WiFi?

Thanks,

It connected to my home WiFi again this morning and the (Volvo Cars) app is working as a result. So, there's proof that the WiFi isn't just for maintenance. No software updates yet since June, however, on the car that is.

It does noy recognize my home wifi despite a max strong signal with all bars. Interestingly it will recognize a signal from my slow 10 year old apple time capsule modem when tried it. Weird.

After some digging, I found out that the car doesn't like dual-band networks. So if you are broadcasting on both 2.4ghz and 5ghz, it won't show up. I had to enable a guest network that was only 5ghz (only 2.4ghz works too) and then the car was able to see it.

Most interesting. Thank you. I may try the same thing, but I would be more motivated if the app was more useful.
