03 S40 sunroof drain tube
I can not find the exit end of the drain tube. The posts I find are for 04 and newer and show the tube under the pillar cover but mine goes into the pillar. I have pulled apart under the dash and also the wheel well but cannot find where it exits. I put a small amount of water in the top and it is coming out under the rocker panel so definitely need to fix.
This is for the 06, but I would expect that an 03 would not be different.
Well, the water that gets into the "A" pillar drain pipes shows up on the ground under the rocker panel, so it may be all right. If you have a problem, the water will be showing up INSIDE the car, running down the inside of the firewall and UNDER the carpets.
There is a LOT of foam (1 1/2") under the carpets, and it can hold up to 2 gal. of water. Water will not migrate from side to side past the console hump, but WILL travel front to back.
The forward drain tubes (2 fwd, to rear) run from the fwd corners of the SR gutter through several 1/4" plastic "ells" under the headliner, to an longer clear ~1/2" tube down the "A" pillar to an incredibly difficult to access 1/2" rubber through-panel "Ell" fitting behind the corner of the dash. This leads out behind the hood hinges. The water then runs freely down the front side of the firewall and onto the ground.
Common problems are blockages in the small "ells," a disconnected long tube from the lower rubber "ell" (the tube is cut with NO slack), or a blocked or poorly inserted lower "ell."
