I am getting a Trunk Open message on my dash even though the trunk is securely closed. it looks to me like the sensor for that is in the latch. there's 4 wires going into it.
Just wanted confirmation on that before I order a new latch. Wiring looks fine.

 

Hi, I've just bought an 07 S40 that came with the same recurring boot open message. Checking various forums suggested the most likely cause to be a broken wire inside the rubber loom cover between the lid and the car, which turned out to be exactly the fault on my car. There were 3 other wires with breaks in the insulation that I also reconnected and, because I had to cut the boot to see inside, I've bought a new loom to replace my taped up (working) version when the weather improves.

Yes a wire in the boot loom is quite a common problem , not just Volvo but many other cars , on the Volvo had to replace wires once in 19 years , in my Alfa 2 times in 8 years
