2000 S40 brake issues; advice needed,please!
Hello, new to the forum, new to Volvo. Bought son an S40. Problem:
2000 Volvo S40
Son put all his weight on brake pedal to raise up off seat. Brake pedal began going almost to floor, difficult to stop car.Drove several days, then applied brakes and brake went all way to floor, had to use emergency brake.
Saw no leaks at master cylinder or on inside of wheels
Filled the empty reservoir, applied pressure to brake pedal several times. Reservoir almost emptied. Refilled reservoir. Put pressure on brakes, and discovered brake fluid pouring from BOTH front wheels.
Any help most greatfully appreciated.

My V40 failed a fitness inspection shortly after I first got her.
Turned out both of the front hoses had noticeable cracks near the end connections.
Often they have signs of bulging occurring where the inner tubing is failing.
Easy DIY job if you do your own maintenance and the hoses are not expensive parts.
Pay you to to check the rear ones at the same time but they normally last longer.
