2000 s40 cranks but no start
bought car with a blown head gasket.replaced head gasket, hoses, seals ect.tried to start...crank and crank but no start. i have pleanty of air, fuel pressure is at 42psi and i have spark.i triple checked my timing marks and still nothing. the plastic on the key is broken, but it cranks without the imobilizer light comming on...im really scratching my head over this, any direction would be helpful.
A first quick look at your plugs will give you a guess at your compression- wet or dry-if wet- smell gas, or maybe coolant. Compression check should tell you if the timing is on.
thanks all for the info.what i found was that the special tool i bought, only got the timing marks close, and was not close enough.after another check of the timing i moved the crank half a tooth, which changed the cam tiing 1 tooth.reset and tried.started up and ran pretty well..
i have limited refereance matterial and no owners maunual yet.so im sure i will have more questions in the future.
thanks again-jon
