Hello All, new to the boards.. I have a 2000 S40 with a headlight switch that needs to be replaced. After conducting some research about a replacement part, I noticed that the HLS 1197 and other headlight switches do not correspond to the factory installed unit. I was wondering if the two are just cosmetically different, and if I can install this different switch( HLS 1197) or if I have to keep looking for the correct replacement.

I have attached a picture of the switch that is in my car, and the HLS 1197 that I found on google, labeled (Stevesheadlightswitch and HLS1197) I wanted some input before I made a purchase. I would appreciate any help if possible, thanks in advance.

Somebody must have replaced one on a 2000 already?

I know that many improvements were made over the 2000 model. The picture on the right looks like my 2001 version. I wish I could tell you if the wiring connectors are the same.

 

I have the same problem. Any solutions?
