Default Headlight Switch Replacement

Hi all...

Another quick one.

I have to replace the headlight switch in my V70 and the Haynes Manual (good as it is) shows the switchgear for another model in the pic.

Can anyone dot-point a quick explanation for removal/replacment of this switch in the V70?

Thanks

Remove the switch next to it and reach finger in and push out. They just pop out.

Thanks for that but my V70 is the RHD Euro/Aussie model and the headlight switch is not in a bank. It is a separate unit on its own. Does this just prise out using a flat tool top and bottom?

Would appreciate some guidance.

Tech...

Just to let you (and any others interested) that I've successfully replaced the headlight switch but, on the RHD Aussie (and possibly the UK and RSA models) the switch is a separate unit and not in a bank and does not pop out easily as you cannot get your hand in behind it. Some gentle persuasion with a flat screwdriver blade top and bottom is the way to go as the retainer spring clips are on each side and are quite tight. The switch unit actually fits inside the plastic frame in the dash so you need to lever inside the frame and not where it fits into the dash.

If you want some pix I can upload if anyone would find that useful.

Thanks for the help.

That might be a good idea just for the info.

Take it to the dealer, it's covered under a recall.

my headlight switch ("98 V70R) just malfunctioned. when turned all the way to the right - headlights on - the dash and the tail lights go off. When in the "running light" mode dash and tail lights are on. With the switch turned to "headlight" mode if I press on it, it indents slightly and dash and tail lights come on. I drove home Friday night with my finger pressing the switch.

Questions: 1) Is the recall still valid now after 10 years?

2) If I have to do this myself, can I really just pop the switch out without taking the dash apart?

1. Check with local Dealer. Call them with your Vin# and see if it has already been done.

2. Yes it just pulls out. But since it is broke already it will most likely fall apart when pulled on.
