Default 2000 s40 limp mode?

So the car suddenly threw up a bunch of warning lights and the gauges stopped working. Car idled very rough, and when I stepped on the accelerator the car barely moved. Also there is enough air being released from the oil cap to shoot hot oil all over my face when removed. Clogged pcv valve or is the engine just gone? Ive been told it could be the alternator, or the electric system. Ive installed new led reverse lights, headlight bulbs and a car audio system
could any of these things cause the car to have engine problems like this? Thank you.

The oil flying out is probably a PCV problem.

I'd guess the rest is a charging / low voltage problem. Hard to imagine a whole lot of unrelated "systems" crashing at the same time, but that's a good description of what would happen when the battery voltage has dropped to a critical level.

Excessive blowback from the oil fill is also a symptom of a clogged cat convertor (or a banana in the tailpipe if you have anyone who likes jokes). I have never heard of a failed cat in this car though. The test is to remove the top O2 sensor to see if the car runs better.

Is the turbo good? It's also possible the turbo has failed however I'm thinking it would have made a mechanical grinding noise before failing. All just a guess.
