2000 S40 spring seat orientation
so after getting my front strut apart, I noticed the spring seat's bolt hole is eccentric. Is there a specific orientation to which way the seat orients to the bottom of the strut? When I line up the spring to the lower seat, there seems to be a natural angle for the strut rod - but not sure if that is a true indicator... (sorry to say I didn't notice the orientation during disassembly due to the fact the spring was broken and the mount was damaged.
I found my answer in a PDF copy of the Haynes manual online (so no dis'ing Haynes here) - there are three holes in the spring seat that align with three similar holes in the strut seat for correct caster/camber. Interestingly, Haynes refers to the 2000+ sport models having the top seat rotated 20 degrees clockwise (both left and right). Seems if somebody was doing lowering springs, they'd want to go with the +20 degrees.

As I recall there is a hole in the metal part (mount/isolator??) and if you have the "comfort" set-up (vs sport) this hole needs to be aligned with the hole in the bottom mount plate. If you have the sport version it is a 20deg offset.
