Now, I just bought my s40, no major problems so far with braking except when it starts up-it's very very scary when the brakes don't seem to work the same. This recall of the brake pump-would I be able to get it replaced at the dealer now, hopefully free? Obviously way past it's warranty and used, but still... I didn't know if I was crazy or doing something wrong, but the guy at the car wash warned me about the brakes as well-reading this, I'm pretty sure it's the same problem. Thanks guys.

 

Recall repairs are separate from warranty and you can do them at any time. Take it in as soon as you can, that sounds somewhat dangerous or at least very inconvenient if you were to park on a hill...
