2001 S40 Center Speaker Blown
Hey, I'm actually posting this to help out a friend of mine with his stereo problem.
The center speaker channel no longer works. So, first things first, I need to make sure
that the speaker is blown and not just a contact error. How can I go about
removing the speaker?
Also, where should I buy a new speaker (part no. ?) to hook up to the stock system.
I would prefer an oem speaker for him, he doesn't like messing with stuff.
TIA

Hi beejohn who sounds like he's a good mate to a Volvo S40 owner!
The speaker grille can be carefully prised off of the facia, then the speaker itself simply unclips. Pull the speaker out slightly & disconnect the wiring behind it. Job done!
Regards.

Almost forgot. If the speaker is blown then Volvo can supply a replacement, but you might save your friend some $$ by taking the blown speaker to a car sound warehouse or similar, to try to get a suitable replacement. Maybe get a price from Volvo first & take it from there if price seems unreasonable.
