I'd run a compression check to see if you have more serious issues. It's a simple free test to determine if the timing components are correct.

I've read threads of the VVT leak being fixed with hardware store parts. The OP said he just found the closest seal available on the shelf and it worked.

Or buy a new VVT for about $160 online.

pulled codes got
p0351=ignition coil A primary/secondary circuit malfunction
p0340=camshaft position sensor A-bank 1 circuit malfunction
p0014=camshaft position actuator B-bank 1 timing over-advanced
p0015=camshaft position actuator B-bank 1 timing over-retard
p0113=IAT sensor 1 circuit high input
p0118=emgine coolant temp circuit high input

and im lost on how the cam could be over advanced and over retard at the same time

I'd do a compression check just for peace of mind.

Then I'd erase the trouble codes and try to start the car again to see if the codes return.

A bad camshaft position sensor could be sending bad signals to the ECM.

My VVT started leaking oil a few weeks back. It slowly got worse until the timing belt slipped and bent 8 exhaust valves. In my case I had 0 compression on all cylinders.

If I remember correctly, the actual compression is not so important as the difference between cylinders should not be more than 10%. What are the reading from the other cylinders to compare?

I'm worried you have this:

Ok, any water in the oil? It will look like chocolate milk.

White smoke out the exhaust is coolant being burned. The tell tale sign is a very bright white spark plug because it's literally being steam cleaned.

You say the head is reman? Has it been checked to see if it's warped? A warped head can allow coolant into a cylinder or crankcase when the head gasket won't seal.

Could very well be. I just put mine back together and keep getting P0017 code for the CVVT being off. You have any stored codes?
