Default 2003 S40 Hard starting..

Well my niece's car is giving me fits, Here car began hard start in the morning only after the initial start it would behave normally! I replaced the FPR and the problem went away for a while then she said it started up again. Part under warranty from rockauto so I replaced it and there is not much difference. Can anyone offer other possible diagnostic possibilities or parts that could be failing - I have replaced the plugs initially!

Thanks

Kind Regards,
Hank Knowles

It is hard to say can you get a fuel pressure guage to test the pressure?

Does it start better when you put your foot on the pedal?
Maybe the idle air valve is stuck.

I'll have to ask her - where is the idle air valve located?

It is on the front of the intake like under the black cover that you remove with the 2 screws.

Try cleaning the IAC first, if that doesn't work then replace it. It's not a very expensive part.

Spray the sensor out with carb cleaner.
