Default 2003 S40 Suspension

Just did the front suspension on a 2000 XC70 last week and I saved the old struts since they were still in good shape. The top rubber mounts went bad (wow can you believe that?) but I had bought the parts already so I changed them out. What I'm wondering is can the front struts on XC70 be used on the 2003 S40? They look almost identical except for the slight difference on the brake line mount that is welded to the strut. Anyone ever exchange the parts between the two cars or know if the two parts have the same interchange number?

I would not advise doing that. They are very likely tuned very differently as the XC70 is a heavier car and the XC70 is made to have more suspension travel.

Hmm, could be. I'll see if I can measure the various parts but you might have a point there about the weight differences. Seems like the struts look identical. I'll be purchasing the bushings for the top and bottom (top mounting and lower control arms). The ride is so hard right now it's killing me on local roads.
