Recently my S40 started to be a bit hesitant when I would hit the gas. It seems to be working a bit harder to get to a faster speed than normal. I have a turbo charger and on Sunday (after about a week of the hesitation) my check engine light came on. Not sure if it is related to the problem, but do any of you have any ideas or suggestions??

Hi there

Does it say Engine Service Required on the dash, If so its because theres a fault logged in the system which could be linked to your complaint of poor performance. I would Recommend to have it taken to a volvo dealer and have it scanned for fault codes.

It does not have a message for me on my dash board.... only the engine light is on. Could it be that I need spark plugs? Man, I would love it, if it were that simple!!

 

go to your local auto parts store if they have a code reader...you need to have the codes read, then you will know whats wrong...

 

The same thing happened to my 05 s40 t5 and it was my fuel rail pressure sensor

 

Hi all,
I have this same issue on my 2005 S40 T5 AWD, CEL came on today reading a P0193 (fuel rail pressure sensor- high input) and P0190 (fuel rail sensor malfunction). Causes a loss of power and hessitation. Did anyone resolve this issue? What was the cause of the problem and how to fix? Please help
