2004 S40 AC condenser Fan comes on at start up
My 2004 S40 1.9 L Turbo AC condenser fan (passenger side) comes on right at start up and stays on until the car is turned off. I would like to check the resistance of engine coolant temp sensor and Intake Air Temp sensor, can anyone please provide the resistance that I should be getting as a function of temperature for both of those sensors? Everything else is normal, the temp gauge is pegged right in the middle after about the first 1-2 miles of driving and stays there. The AC is fine and is ice cold. Thanks in advance.
As a general rule of thumb, ECT should be in the 3K range cold and 300 ohms hot. Value will vary based on what temp you test at - ie if you are testing "cold" at 70F you'd be closer to 2500 ohms while at 50F its like 4000. If you get the car fully warmed up, the coolant should be in the 190F range (ie when the tstat opens you'd see 300, if the engine is fully warm it will be closer to 210F and that's around 200 ohms. From what I've read, the IAT should be calibrated much the same.
