2005 S40 Oil filter?
The oil filter is accessed from the top. It is Like behind the Alt. You will have to remove part of the induction system to get to it. You will need a short 36mm socket to unscrew the housing to get to the filter insert.
I got the 1st part of the induction off, but I can't get off the part of it right in front of the filter. I can't figure out how to get all the little plastic catches unlocked simultaneously. Is there some little trick or tip you can give me? Do you push down or up on the tabs?
Should I yank the entire piece from the hole that goes into where the air filter is... or should I yank that piece in half, leaving a part of it in the hole that goes to the air filter. I don't want to break anything, but there were scratches on the little locks and I'm afraid that someone b4 me messed up the little tabs so now they may be jammed. Or I may not be pressing on them correctly. It's my 1st oil change since I bought the car. Also, did I read the manual correctly that oil change intervals are 7500 miles even with conventional oil. And should I use synthetic.
Just pull and what ever comes off comes off. (Don't want to sound to crude but they are a pain otherwise)
Yes on the 7,500 services.
You can use synthetic if you want.
