2005 Volvo s40 2.4i CD Player
I just bought a 2005 s40 and when I left the dealership, I found out the CD player didn't work. Keeps telling me deck error. I've read up on how you can't do anything for it other than buying a new unit for the car from a dealership which can run around $700. I don't want to pay that ridiculous price. is there an alternative? Or if CD's are jammed, how do I get to the CD player and get the disks?
Unfortunately, there was an "unhappy valley" in Volvo audio design between the cassette era and the "oh, we've got to have an AUX input" era (2008?). My 2006 is in it.
In 2005, the CD player ~may~ have an analog connection to the radio. If so, AUX in is a matter of getting the right connector. For the cars with a fiber-optic audio network, the choices are FM transmitter, FM modulator, or GROM / Denison ($$$).

I started another thread to ask similar questions and failed to ask:
Are the speaker connections and associated cabling fiber-optics, meaning new cables would need to be run to new, conventional speakers if the FiberOptics system were to be changed?
