2005 Volvo S40 - Slow Engine Start
Hey guys, I am currently driving a 2005 Volvo S40 T5 AWD (6 Speed Manual) and have noticed that it seems to take roughly 4 to 5 seconds for the car to start rather than firing up right away. I am also noticing a bit of a sputter as the engine tries to start. I'm not very good with the whole mechanical aspect of cars however the other day I had a warning come on while driving informing me that there was an issue with my key. After calling volvo about the warning they advised me to replace the battery in my key fob. Could it be possible that a week ignition key is causing my delayed starts? If not, does anyone have an idea as to what could be creating this issue?
I have owned the car for roughly 2 months and have only used top grade premium fuel since.

How is your battery? The 2004.5+ cars are very picky when it comes to proper voltage. For instance, the fuel pump produces the required pressure by varying voltage, not with a fuel pressure regulator. There is a fuel pressure sensor on the end of the fuel rail.
If you have a multimeter place it on the battery terminals and check for about 12 volts. Now have someone crank the car and watch the voltage. If it drops below 10 volts the car will have problems starting. Once the engine is running check the voltage in the 14 volt range.
