2005 Volvo S40 T5 - vibrating around 40 mph issues
My S40 is experiencing some vibrating around 40 mph but it smoothes out at 50 or high speed. I've had the brakes and rotors replaced, tires rotated and balanced and finally purchased a new set of tires with an alignment. The vibration happened occasionally. One shop claimed that I needed to replace both axles, but after getting a second opinion from another repair shop that said nothing was wrong with my axles. If anyone has experienced this issue before, please advise.
Thanks!

I had something similar happening. More specifically:
1) vibration started at 45mph and up
2) vibration went away as soon as I lifted my foot off gas
3) I was not experiencing any vibration when braking.
In my case it was the passenger side axle intermediate bearing that was worn. I had no noise when turning and no axle-like clunking that all the youtube videos take about just a violent vibration at 45mph and up. Seemed to be worse in cold weather too.
Replaced the one axle and all was well.
Not sure if that helps you. good luck!
