Hey all, Last week I was driving and the FM radio was working fine, I turned the car off for dinner and as I left, the FM and AM is all static. I put it on the town radio station and it was fighting to get reception, but then it completely lost it all, so now all I can use is my CD player, AM/FM is all static. I looked in the trunk or all the equipment, and the panels and I see nothing, I checked all fuses and they are all fine. Someone please help, I am so lost and confused.
2006 Volvo S40 T5 AWD, single CD Player.

 

The audio system in 2006 had four major parts: The control head, the CD player, the amp (in the left rear fender!!) and an antenna amp. In the S40, I believe the antenna amp is in the left"C" pillar area.

DiCE / VIDA would probably give you some insight into what went wrong.

 

I checked all those locations and there is nothing.. that's why i am so lost and confused. I took apart the whole car. Absolutely nothing.... :/

 

Hee hee.... GET the ~~free~~ VMware VIDA image and find out about your car! (Google "VMware VIDA) the image is held over at the Matthews Volvo forum site.

You will find out about YOUR SPECIFIC car: component location, function, part removal. If you pop for the Chinese clone DiCE unit (about $100), you will be able to check the reported health of EVERY system in your car.
