2006 Volvo s40 turbo
Hello all,
I'm considering the purchase of this vehicle, it has 100k kms and is an automatic, all leather, good sound system. It's very clean, let's consider that everything is working well, though I will have it inspected. Tried it and everything seems good.
I would appreciate your comments on this car, specifically about reliability, potential issues and your personal experiences.
How much would you pay for such a car?
Cheers

Edmund's says $7200, but I didn't have many details to fill in. Also don't forget it's an 8 year old car regardless of the mileage. Unless you are dead set on a Volvo you can get a much newer car for the same $$$.
Also... at 100k that car is in need of a new timing belt. Check to see if its been changed. Unless you can do it yourself it can be pricey.

I personally avoided a turbo, but many others have been happy with them. I would check the myCarFax.com FREE maintenance history to check for regular oil changes.
The timing belt is fabric, and has an EITHER time or mileage replacement period. AFIK, the time period is ten years, so you would have two years by that "clock."
The other thing I ran into was that 2006 cars did not offer any "aux-in" or USB option. You can get around this elegantly with a GROM unit, or cheaply with an FM modulator.
If the car was stored outside, test the sunroof drains (especially the two front corner ones) by adding about a turkey-baster full of water at each corner of the inside gutter. They can clog and cause mega-flooding, but it is pretty easy to clear them out.
