Trying to make my old Volvo palatable to a new driver with an aftermarket head unit. I've read about the Bluepower BLP-990. That unit though is now about 6 years old and too expensive. Has anyone tried anything else, either in dash or above dash?

Why has the lenses degraded ? they are easy to remove and replace or clean

 

reference is to the audio head unit not headlights. I have not read anything positive about the BLP-990. the problem with upgrading the S40 in dash unit is its connections are fiber based. There are some adaptors from Grom if you want to add bluetooth or a line in. gromaudio.com is their homepage.
