Question 2009 S40 2.4l shacking at takeoff

I got my 2009 S40 2.4l back in late-November, early-December with about 67,000 miles. It has always had been shakey on acceleration thru about 25 mph. The shaking can be felt in the front, most notably in the floor and seats. My dad thinks it something with the tranny, as it is in the 1st and 2nd gears. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

There's a lot more torque on the engine and drivetrain in those gears (since the 2.4l motor doesn't have enough torque to do anything in 3rd or above). ;-)

My bet is that you have a bad motor / transmission mount, or a bad control arm bushing. In either case, the worn out bushing / mount will allow "unusual movement" under the torque of acceleration, causing odd behavior and/or noises.

And FWIW, plan on doing regular transmission drain-and-fills. Easier than an oil change, and the one thing that's likely to keep your "new" Volvo on the road for many, many miles (the tranny is the weak link).

same issue on mine but didnt think of the mounts. Mine idles high as well and is over all sluggish. Bought plugs, boots, filters, oil, timing belt, water pump, all the things that need love in a 200,000 mile car. I am going to replace the transmission fluid and see if it helps before I try the mounts
