2009 S40 2.4l turbo?
I have a 2009 S40 2.4l and was wondering if it would be financially and physically possible to equip one. I was looking for a small one for a couple hundred. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Physically *possible*, yes. Typically would have to lower compression ratio, install different injectors, et cetera. It's *not a simple bolt-on* sort of thing. Financially "for a small one for a couple hundred"? No. Just the turbo itself is *around a grand*. It would be better and cheaper to just by a turbo car than to do a conversion. *Forget about it. Not at all economic*.
Cheers

Not at all different engines and the cost would be much more that the car is worth (done properly) , if you want more power than sell it and get something more powerful , the T5 does not have a lot more power , around 35 odd KW more which is nice but certainly not massive as its a low pressure unit , but nicer to drive as it has a lot more torque so the response is nicer.
Just keep as is and enjoy it a nice car I had one, as well as the T5 (which I still have)
But then any car can be turbocharged , if its for a fun car and you not too concerned about reliability then yes but its still will cost a lot but not sure of the cost in your country , here in RSA its just a no no

I have a 2.4i as well. Thinking of doing an all motor build just to have a weird build no one has done but what you'll find is there are NO aftermarket parts. Unlike a Honda 4 cylinder you cant find different cylinder heads or crank shafts so it has to be custom. No MLS or even just steel gaskets so you are stuck in a certain power range. ID say its cheaper to buy a 2.5. Engine and just do a swap. A full rebuilt engine is around 1500 to 2000 unless u go ebay. You'll need an ecu and wiring harness but then you'll have WAY more after market parts. (Novice here as well glad to see you working on a 2.4 too)
If you enjoy that than yes have some fun But its better to sell and get a T 5 and then have fun with it much easier and cheaper not sure of prices in your country but thats what I would do as mentioned the 2.4 is not used much so any spares will hard to get , the 2.5 is used a lot so much easier ford etc
