Over time several buttons on our S40 center panel have ceased to work:
AC on/off (usually illuminated "off"), recirculation, and the #3 & #9 for radio. At first we thought the AC was defective but, it illuminates "ON" and gets nice and cold whenever we activate the front window defrost (then deactivates "OFF" when we select other ventilation modes).

Quite comfortable to e.g. remove the panel, check connections, solder, graphite pen etc. if such methods may be useful, but figured it best to inquire in case there were more likely cause(s) before I go exploring :-) Might there be a reset sequence useful for that panel (without needing VIDA/VADIS)? Any other ideas?
