The ignition key doesnt start the car.

gawilsonf, welcome to the forum. I gave you a free ride over to the S40 forum to get you some extra eyes from the S40 experts. Can you better describe what happens? do the dash lights come on with the key? Does the car click or turn over slowly but fails to catch or does it not make any sound at all? Did you try a jump start? Common causes can be 1) battery/starter 2) PNP switch 3) ignition switch. SO the jump start can rule out battery, the PNP switch is the park/neutral position sensor on the shifter so you can try rowing the shifter 20x from park to lo to see if that cleans the contacts and for the ignition switch you need to see if anything else is not getting powered (ie relays).
