Default 92 S40 Surging heater motor speeds (fix)

Just writing to say that I read online that pulling the heater control unit and cleaning the fan/heat-cool/temp pots did fix the problem!

Pulling the heater control module is very simple and there is a Youtube video showing how it to remove it.

here:

One I got the module out I noticed that there were 4 torx screw on the back, so I removed them but was still not able to open the module up.

Si I just went in from the front, first I used CCRC 05101 QD Electronic Cleaner which comes w/ a addional extension so you can get into tight speces. If you look down beneath the ***** you will see a small area that you can squirt the cleaner in.

So I gave the pots a good blast and worked them back and fourth abot 30 times then followed up w/ DDeoxIT® DN5 and again worked the controls about 30 times.

Put back together and now the fan speed is working 100% w/o any surging..

Good to hear! I did the same to mine using DeoxIT back in 2014 and it made my climate controls rock steady. But it only lasted a year and now I'm back to where I started.

Be sure to report back if the problem comes back.
