Default 96' S40 rattling sound from center console

Hi!
Im new to this forum, and thought i can find help here!

I have been having a long time problem with my S40, but now i decided to try and fix that.
The problem is, when i accelarate my car upto speed there is a rattling sound coming from center console. It starts rattling around 2400-2600rpm.
It's starting to get really annoying, i dont know what else to do...
I have taken off the whole faceplate with ventholes and radio to find if there is something loose, but i didnt find anything. Lately i have been listening to it more closely, and it seems its coming from somewhere around speedometer, or i could be hearing wrong...
So if anyone has any ideas, please let me know. I really want to get rid of this annoying sound.
I tried to catch the sound on video too (turn down bass to hear it better): https://www.dropbox.com/s/q1q17c4qz1...75947.mp4?dl=0

Thanks!

I have a 2000 V40 which is a S40 with a hatch, during idle the car vibrates and rattles from the center console and I found out its due to the upper and or lower right engine mounts. Before finding that out I too pulled apart my center console to find the source of the sound, if you have a built in cup holder above the radio remove it as it makes the sound a lot less loud.

Okay i will check that out. But as you can read, for me the problem is not when the car idles, infact car is perfect when idles, and is perfect up to 2400rpm. There there is this "rattle sound" rather than "rattle " itself, if you know what i mean. It feels to me like these is something loose inside or behind dashboard...
If you watch the video i posted till the end, then you know what i mean.

In addition, i recently changed front and rear engine mounts. The rattle was the same before as it is now.

Edit-Just heard you clip. Check the flex pipe? That is what mine looked like when I heard similar noises... It should have a shroud on it (mine was also cracked). I also have a lower H bar and will get a rattle that sounds like on occasion from the flex pipe vibrating against it when I go into reverse on a slight incline.

Orig post

I installed poly lower mounts and it makes all the rattle gremlins come out. The radio console and side window vents were the largest rattle and I put felt / foam padding with adhesive to silence it. Also the passenger headrest makes a TON of noise... no solutions for that yet. Also the front door panels. There is the main panel and then the "inner" circle that is possibly a different shaded leather color... that could also be loose from the main door panel and rattling.

I checked those things, i even took the the vents out and drove a bit to see if that makes a difference...still nothing, the rattle is still there. And i also have a rattling headrest, but thats not the rattle that annoys me.
Is it possible that the rattle im dealing with has something to do with cabin ventilation system?

Not sure if you saw my edit or if you replied before I had applied it.

- Check the flex pipe if you haven't, that really sounds like it's coming from underneath.
- Can you check the heat shield(s) in the engine bay? I've heard of them rattling. There's also a little one on the rear subframe that can rattle (you probably found it since you changed them recently).

I didnt see your edit

Im sorry, for dumb questions, but english is not my native language. Is the "flexpipe" part at exhaust right? I will check that soon then.

Also, did you replace your flexpipe, if you found it like that? Did it make the rattle go away?

I had an inspection and needed to change the cat so I used this and it seemed to fix things.

This thread https://volvoforums.com/forum/volvo-...0-noisy-83096/ also links this piece which would probably also do it Exhaust Flex Pipe Flange Repair Replacement Volvo 1 9L FX2083 | eBay but all that assumes it's the flex pipe....
