Default Ac controls have a mind of there own

Whenever I turn the ac and set the blower motor to a certain speed it will randomly pick a speed every once in while, I turn it off it stays off but when I put the blower motor on low it will sometimes go to high and eventually fall down, is the problem in the switch that just changes resistance or what else could it be?

I don’t know if this is normal, but when I turn the defrost on the AC will kick on and off and was told this was normal but I don’t see why it would be when I have it on hot, what could the problem be on this if it is a problem?

I am pretty confused on this one
thanks for looking!

When the blower motor is messing up is it on aut setting?

With the defroster yes that is normal. Most of the time cool are cleans the window faster than hot air.

Another thing to look at when this happens does the recirculate light go on and off?The a/c control head might be bad.I forget which year it is.There might be a software upgrade for it to fix it.

The reciculate light does come on and off whenever it feels like it. The car is a 2001. For the software would a dealer know what I would be talking about if I asked them if it came down to it?

They should know what you are talking about. Also from the factory the A/C system is setup to have the recirc turn off after a certain time. That can be changed.Thats why I asked about the recic. After a certain amount of time the recirc turns off and the blower speed will seem like it gets lower. That can be changed with minor programming.
