Default Actual value of the 5-year/60,000 mile free maintenance?

Anybody have a good estimate as to what the Volvo 5-year/60,000 mile safe+secure plan (free maintenance and wear & tear replacements) is worth, assuming you put the full 60K on your car in that time period?

$3,000? less?

Thanks!

Shoot way more than that!! It covers all scheduled maintenance(tunes, timing belts, fluid flushes etc) Also covers brakes and rotors. One brake job with rotors on these new wave Volvo's could cost you $1,000 I'd imagine for fron and rear...maybe just fronts Seems like a great deal if you ask me..(.BMW has been doing this for years..)but hey I'm just a mechanic

The maintenance program covers the first eight scheduled services at no charge. The service schedule is 7,500, 15,000, 22,500, 30,000, 37,500, 45,000, 52,500 and 60,000 miles.**

Timing belts I do not think so.

I agree I don't think timing belts are covered. It's just the regular service every 7.5k miles + brakes + rotors, I think.

I just called about 5 different Volvo dealers in SoCal and got estimates on 7.5k, 15k, and 30k services, and I also got estimates on brake pads and rotors (that covers pretty much everything that safe + secure covers, right?).

7.5k service: ~$250
15k service: ~$330
30k service: ~$350

Assuming you drive the full 60K, you would have the equivalent of 4 x 7.5k services, 2 x 15k services, and 2 x 30k services.

Front and rear brake pads estimate was about $220 for each axel. Rotors were about $375 for each axel.

So assuming you do all 8 services and get brake pads and rotors replaced once each in 60k miles, total value of the safe + secure here in SoCal would be approximately $3,500.

If you drive less than that (and therefore have few services), or if your brakes last longer (apparently some brakes don't need to be replaced until after 60k miles), the value of the safe + secure would drop accordingly.

So anyways, those are numbers from actual dealerships, and I've tried to account for everything that the safe + secure free maintenance covers.

Does that look pretty reasonable to everybody?

hmmm maybe I read wrong but it says ALL scheduled maintenance. If that is tru ir should cover a timing belt service unless it's not replaced before 60k? I am not 100% certain because I don't work on the new Volvo's but typically a TB is replaced every 50k....maybe the new Volvo's are different. I that case it's still a good deal if you plan on keeping the car and it adds to it's resale value...if I were you I would call Volvo customer service and ask exactly what is covered etc..

Timing belt change is scheduled at 105,000 miles. No way Volvo is covering that.

Wow!! Thats's awesome 105,000 on an interference motor? They must be really proud of their belts Thanks for that..240,740,940,760 is 50K and they are non interference motors...I don't think I'd wait 105K..until out of warranty..thing breaks......you are out a LOT of $$

2009 S40 owner here with the Safe and Sound plan.

So it's $250 for the 7.5 K service? Wow...that's not much more than an oil change, a few basic checks, and resetting the service reminder.

When I look at the maintenance service there isn't much more than oil changes until the 60K point. In addition, the oil changes do not include full synthetic, even for the T5 (which costs another $40 or so) and I just paid $50 at the last service because I wanted a tire balance and rotation.

What gets me is that the maintenance schedule includes a lot of additional checks after the 60K point that are then recommended every 7.5K miles. Looks like they took them off of the earlier maintenance intervals so that they didn't have to do them on the plan.

All that said, however, I don't mind getting the maintenance paid for by Volvo...

A full brake job (with rotor replacement) would cost $600? Wow...I just paid $350 for my Toyota Highlander for the same level of service. Then again, that wasn't at a dealer.
