You need to have the codes pulled so you know where to start looking for the fault.

I forget exactly but I think it is pretty expensive.

Are you going to replace it?

Yeah, I have to replace it to get it inspected. I have a machanic that said the labor will be about $125. He said he has to pull the steering wheel off. Is there a way around this? I was told I can only buy this part at volvo. Any advise?

I think you can only buy it from Volvo and yes you have to remove the steering wheel to replace it.

It sits behind the steering wheel. It also controls the connections for the horn.

ORIGINAL: Red XC

and the mechanic have to be exact to center the steering wheel with the clock spring.

When they come new they are locked into center. It is just install and then install the wheel then remove the screw and you are good to go.

Had the dealer pull the codes. They said a sensor got wet and reset it. No problem since!

My horn and other audio buttons died so I assume its the clock spring in my 2001 S80. However I got the AIRBAG SERVICE msg now , so when I replace the clock spring with new one, will the AIR BAG ERROR MSG go away in a few cycles ?
