Just finished fixing the last CEL and now another comes up. I broke down and bought a decent OBD tool and now have the following code:

P0442 Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (small leak)

And it has this as a pending code:

P0455 Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (gross leak)

I tightened the gas cap and cleared the codes. My guess is they will come back.
Any ideas where to start diagnosing ? I read somewhere it could be a cracked hose or the canister purge (CP) valve ? Thanks for any pointers.

 

Gas cap bet ya.

I think there's a little rubber washer, look for cracks, etc.

 

Getting the same code on my wife's 2000 V40. Was the gas cap washer the solution?

 

Yup, for me, I just had to tighten the gas cap and clear the codes. They haven't come back.
