Just bought an early '04 S40.
The antenna bangs three times when it hits the top of the track going up and the bottom of the track going down.

Im not sure if the antenna motor is broken or if it's supposed to be like this.

can anyone enlighten me?

 

Hi Richard, if the antenna goes up and down, I would leave it alone.

 

Thanks. I figured the same thing; as long as it still works ill just ignore the thumping.

 

Does it go up even when you play cd's and other non-radio things?

 

It goes up when i power on the radio/cd player and goes down when i turn it off.
