Asterisk next to temperature in message panel

Out of curiosity, what does the asterisk next to the temperature mean? Picture enclosed.

It means that it is cold enough for the road to be icy.

That's what I was thinking.

They told me, and I quote them verbatim: "Hi Ted, the asterisk means that the temperature outside is 36° Fahrenheit or below." Well, then.. lol
