I havnt had the time as of right now to go out and test drive a automatic volvo s40 awd that I have my eye on to purchase in a few months, My question is as ive never owned a automatic transmission but it would be a relief to drive one without the shifting. Im sure someone hear has test drove both the manual and the auto could give me there opinion? Preferably someone whos bought the car as a automatic coming from a stick shift. Is there a performance decrease with a automatic and yes I no nothing about automatics, I plan to test drive in august but would like an opinion

Automatix are good and quick. Manuals are the most fun but I like the auto luxury and sport shifting. They're both fast... and reliable so if you an automatic go for it.
