Default Opinion on transmission.

Hello,

The transmission on my 1999 S80 T6 failed. It slips and the car barely advances. The car has 280 000km, and the waterpump is also starting to fail. The sale value of a car with this mileage in Montreal seems to be around 3000-4000 CDN$.

A transmission rebuilt would cost 2000 CDN$.

What are your opinions? is it worth getting the new transmission, or is the vehicle scrap ?

Thanks in advance

Default $2000 sounds cheap to me

I have heard much higher numbers because lots of labour to remove and install. I have heard more like $5000
Cost me almost that much for my 2000 Astro and it is conventional rear wheel drive only.
If all else is good for the car and you can get it all done for $2000 including parts and labour, it sounds worthwhile doing to me. Assuming you get at least a year of warranty....
