Default Axle shaft driver side re-installation

I'm trying to reinstall the driver side axle shaft on my S40 and for some reason I am not able to push the male end back into the transmission. Is there some sort of trick to get the circlip to compress or have people found a good way to get leverage on the shaft to push it in? Right now the large bolt on the wheel side is still in place and I'm wondering if that is part of the problem. I might have to remove that side to get more slack on the shaft. I remember having a similar problem with my S70 but was able to slide the shaft very quickly into the transmission while lying under the car.

Default Any luck?

I'm replacing the drivers side axle shaft tomorrow. Did you have any luck getting yours in place?... If so how?
thanks
