Default Battery drain - not alternator - ideas?

2001 Volvo S40 1.9T/110,000mi

Car is a no-start (just like battery was dead). Everything working fine until yesterday - the problem started in mall parking lot. Jumped car - worked fine. If you let the car sit for a while, you need to re-jump it to start. However, if you wait only a few moments - it will start up normal.

Replaced battery in 07/2009. I went to Autozone for a diagnostic. Battery was 12.1 (needs charge) - with car running jumped to 13.9 (which should mean alternator charging). If the car is running and I disconnect battery - the car stalls (like an alternator issue).

Any ideas? Electric issue with battery drain? Or just that pesky alternator?

TIA!

Sounds like the alternator according to that last test, but do a parasitic draw test to see if anything is drawing amps.
