how about you get a volvo obd 2? Im not sure what you are asking...

 

One of my friend has a Volvo S40 and he is experiencing all sort of problem with his S40. The recent one is, the car stops at idle - it works find when gas paddle is stepped on.

Sounds like a bad fuel pressure regulator. Easy fix if that is the problem. Ask him if the car takes an extended cranking time before it starts.

As for an OBD II scanner, do you have a Harbor Freight close by? They have some cheap (quality and price, lol) scanners.
