boost pipe
hi just wondering if anyone could help i have a split in my boost pipe its causing black smoke on acceleration well im 99% sure its that im just wondering could i damage anything by running it untill i get chance to replace it and is it easy to replace.
What is likely happening is the engine is measuring the amount of air the engine is sucking in through the MAF sensor and injecting that amount of fuel but due to the split in the pipe you aren't shoving that amount of air in as some is leaking out and so it's running rich. Richer when accelerating as the air would be under more pressure and more air would be leaking out than when just driving at a steady pace down the road.
Best to replace it as soon as possible any you might need to change the plugs too as they are likely getting a build up of soot. At least pull and inspect a couple once you get a new tube to gauge their condition.

Spark plugs. Try to accelerate as softly as possible. You want to stay away from boost as much as possible as that's what causes it to leak more and also the pressure might be able to overcome the duct tape and blow out.
