Default broken hose connector, need help identifying

Morning all -

Yesterday my girlfriends 2006 s40 T5 started smoking on her way to work. She pulled into work and made sure her engine wasn't overheating and popped the hood. Coolant everywhere and the reservoir was completely emptied.

Came to pick her up and saw that near the firewall a hose was completely disconnected and the plastic connectors were cracked and rotted. I need help identifying the part because it looks like a simple enough fix to my untrained eye as the hoses themselves are intact, its just the plastic connectors, though I could be wrong. I will post pictures in a moment but the location of these hoses are behind the engine, coming out of the firewall in a pair and held in place with a plastic mount. They are joined with plastic snap/twist connectors and that is the piece that is broken. It is the top hose that has come off and it looks like it is shielded with a foil towards the bottom where it goes under the engine.

****UPDATE****
I've been told that it is a heater hose intake and i can get the OEM hose with the connectors from various suppliers online. does anyone have any experience with replacing this part? Attaching the hose to the area in the pictures seems easy enough, but what about the other side?

Thanks again

Default

The connector may also be a valve or stop that is used for the climate control. A simple connector can be used but the valve may be needed for the rest to work correctly.
